Change the color of git’s output e.g. git diff

To change the color of, say, text that was removed when you run git diff, to the color yellow run:

$ git config --global color.diff.old yellow

You can find the color setting’s name by pressing the key tab. For example, if you want to see what color settings there are related to git status, type:

$ git config --global color.status

then press the key tab.

The shell shall print git-status’ color settings:

color.status.added
color.status.branch
color.status.changed
color.status.header
color.status.localBranch
color.status.remoteBranch
color.status.noBranch
color.status.untracked
color.status.unmerged
color.status.updated
